Helena Gowan

Helena Gowan is a writer of historical fiction with a penchant for adventure and suspense. As a Doctor of Science, Chemistry, she enjoys doing research and concocting complex plots. She writes in English and German. She speaks Scottish Gaelic, too. Her main interest is the 17th century, but all other eras are welcome. She was born in Munich, Germany, grew up in UK, US, and Germany, and now lives in North Carolina, along with her husband and their menagerie: six adopted dogs, two cats and two horses, and a couple of fish, and last, not least two college kids. Helena does not only write, she is also fond of coaching other writers, who have achieved agent and publisher’s contracts working with her.

Kristina's love for the written word began early on. Much reading took place beneath the covers with the flashlight after lights out, and she ambitiously wrote her first "novella" for a fifth grade assignment in the form of an Agatha Christie mystery. Kristina was furious with her mother for rearranging the plot of the mystery as she typed it on the typewriter, which made the villain all too obvious. Since then, she prefers to do her own typing, and lots of it. Kristina's love of language and history naturally draws her to historical fiction, and she has a special place in her heart for stories set in England, as is her debut novel, Roeing Oaks, published in 2009. Its sequel is due out in 2011.

Red wine, snuggly dogs, coffee, and books? These are a few of MY favorite things! A former family law attorney in Palm Beach, FL, I left the practice three years ago to pursue my life’s dream: writing novels. Despite my English degree, I don’t know what I’d do without spell-check, but my spelling inadequacies did not prevent me from completing my first romance novel a year ago. I’m currently working on my second book. Now living in Arlington, VA, when I’m not writing, taking my dog on a walk or putting pencil to notebook paper, you’ll find my head buried in a book! J. R. Tomlin is a published author of Historical Fiction with two novels set in medieval Scotland. Although she was born in Texas, she was reared in part in Edinburgh, Scotland by her grandparents. Scotland's amazing history has always fascinated her. In particular, she has always loved the heroism of the men and women who fought for freedom in the Scottish Wars of Independence and chose to write about them. Her degrees from the University of Texas at Austin are in English and History. She also has co-authored fantasy adventures.

Lavender Ironside

Lavender Ironside is a fiction writer and a history nut, who lives and writes in the Seattle area. She has a passion for books set among ancient and indigenous cultures, as well as novels set in Colonial America, the Middle East, and in prehistory. Unusual approaches to familiar historical stories fascinate her, as do stories about obscure but real people from the past. She appreciates a literary, experimental, or elaborate style and deep immersion into a historical setting. Lavender has published several short stories under various pen names, and she is the author of The Sekhmet Bed, a novel set in 18th-Dynasty Egypt.
